Gossip = Yuck, 10" Later, & a New Recipe!

Gossip = Yuck

I really dislike being part of any kind of drama. This is often why I sort of "lay low," and I often don't share when I'm disgusted about something. (Maybe sometimes to a fault.) I also try really hard to stay out of the endless gossip circles. Unfortunately, this week, I was super close to being wrangled in. Blah!

One of the saddest parts about what happened this week is that it kind of mixed church in with work. Maybe even sadder yet is the fact that a positive (or so I thought) relationship has been tainted. Boo! I hate feeling like I don't know if I can trust someone.

In a nutshell... Something happened at work. It wasn't a big deal. I was just frustrated by the whole thing, so I shared it with hubs, my teammate (at work who gave me the best advice with how to handle it in the future), and 2 other friends who I thought would understand. One of the friends decided to tell other people about it. Somewhere in the passing on of the story, untruths were told. It's just disappointing. And I don't know who told the untruths - the friend or the person told (who also goes to our church). Either way... grr!

I am glad that it came back to the other friend I told because that friend was able to set the story straight and stood up for me. Thank you!

After that friend told me, Hubs and I talked about it, and I decided not to react. I'm going to let it fizzle. I want to act out of love to all people involved. I think this is the best way to do it. I'm disappointed that the one relationship has been tainted now. Yuck. I'm disappointed that the relationship with the acquaintance has been tainted. Yuck. Now I'm just working on forgiving it so that I really don't have hard feelings or that it really doesn't play out in my interactions with them in the future.

10" + Later

I got a new haircut last night. It was so weird having so much hair cut off, but I'm glad I did it. It was my first donation to Locks of Love. Very cool. The hair salon lady put my hair into 2 pony tails and chop, chop, chopped off 10". She laid it down on her table while she gave me my new [short] style. (I wish I had taken a picture of them.) It was strange seeing them there. It didn't even look like that was my hair.

I think it would be even neater to see my hair as a wig or to see how the wig-wearer ends up styling it. I'll definitely do this process again, but it'll probably be a little while. I'm ready to enjoy some short hair styles for awhile.

A New Recipe!

Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies
(via Pinterest)

Set the oven to 350 degrees.

Mix 1 pouch sugar cookie mix, 1 egg, 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup), 6-8 drops of green food coloring, and 1/4 tsp. (or so) of mint extract.

Add 1 cup of chocolate chips and 1 cup of Andes mint chips. (I actually only added about half of what the recipe called for because it seemed like a lot. Mix.

Use a cookie scoop (which I didn't have) or a teaspoon to scoop the cookies out into little balls of dough. Put on a pan.

Bake for about 8-10 minutes. (I usually bake cookies on the lower end so they're softer.) Set on a cooling rack to cool.

They are so yummy! I doubled the batch, took them to small group last night, and the bag was 2/3 empty when we came home.

Enjoy!
